ORCD UK

Supporting Afghanistan. Directly.

ORCD has spent more than a decade working across 34 provinces in Afghanistan, with local teams rooted in the communities they serve. ORCD UK is the British arm of that work. We connect donors here to the teams who are already there.

ORCD's work in Afghanistan:

This the work of ORCD's teams in Afghanistan. ORCD UK exists to support and grow these efforts from Britain.

About ORCD

Who We Are

ORCD was founded in Afghanistan in 2011 by a group of Afghan professionals. What started as a single-province operation has grown into one of Afghanistan’s most trusted humanitarian organisations.

In 2015, ORCD became the first Afghan NGO to receive UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status. Today, ORCD teams work across all 34 provinces with 1,800 staff, delivering food, healthcare, clean water, education, emergency response and protection for women and children.

ORCD UK exists to bring that work closer to the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about giving to Afghanistan

Every donation is transferred to ORCD's field operations through audited financial channels. Our 1,800 staff deliver directly to communities across all 34 provinces. No middlemen. Independent audits since 2011 have returned clean opinions every year.

ORCD UK is a Company Limited by Guarantee and is in the process of registering with the Charity Commission. Our parent organisation, ORCD (Afghanistan), holds UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status and is UNOCHA Humanitarian Fund Qualified.

Zakat (2.5% of qualifying wealth) goes exclusively to eligible recipients as defined by Islamic guidelines. Sadaqah is flexible and supports whichever programme needs it most. General giving funds our broader humanitarian work. All categories are tracked, reported, and Gift Aid eligible.

Many international NGOs cannot operate freely in large parts of Afghanistan today. ORCD's teams have direct community access because they are from those communities. More of every pound reaches families directly, and our track record of over $100 million delivered across 116 projects speaks for itself.
Yes. Every donation from a UK taxpayer is Gift Aid eligible. The government adds 25p to every £1 you give at no extra cost to you. Our platform handles the declaration automatically.
